Tables in comments and custom fields not resizing

Joe McArdle December 9, 2024

At some point over the past week, something on Jira has changed to where tables in comments are no longer displaying correctly. The column widths are huge, and there is no way to resize them; they snap back to the original size. I cannot get to the right hand side of the tables as they disappear off the right hand side of the screen and are you are not able to scroll over to it.

Has anyone else experienced this? We have not changed any settings on our side to cause this, and it only began in the last week.

Extra info: when I am inserting the table I am copy pasting it, I am not making a table from scratch. We have not had any issues doing this over the past 5 years so I am not sure why it has now started being an issue. The most common instance of this is adding email details (from, to, subject, time, date)

Hi @Joe McArdle welcome to the community.  I'm not experiencing the same behavior when I create a new table or paste an existing one but I may be using different steps than you are doing.  When you edit the page, does it say it's using the old editor by any chance?  If it does, you could try converting to the new editor. I'm using the new editor to test.  Have you tried different browsers to see if you have the same behavior?  I'm using Edge.  Do other users have the same behavior?

I took a quick look on Atlassian's Jira Site and didn't see anything related to this specific issue but you're more than welcome to look yourself.

If you're still having issues, and have steps to recreate the issue, you could use the above button and contact Atlassian Support if you're the Admin.

Hope that helps.

@Dan Breyen thanks for the quick reply. I have tried on Chrome and Firefox and had same issue. My colleagues also having same issue.

I'm not sure what editor we are using. I'd imagine the new one?

You can see the edit page looks different to the initial unpute screen; I don't believe this was always the case. Either way, you can also see that I cannot scroll across to get to the right hand side of the table. I've no idea what is making it so big. I've tried zooming the screen in and out also but that has not helped.

I did another search and I think I think I found your issue.  JRACLOUD-83798 sounds like what you're experiencing.  You can confirm with Support, but that looks like it to me.

Feel free and vote for and watch it for updates.  I voted for it to.

Thanks @Dan Breyen

Any idea why it would work up until this week and then now has broken?

The only thing that would come to mind would be some code change has been rolling out and was recently pushed to your instance.  I would think that Support could confirm that for you.
