Sync Confluence page and Jira Issue

Is there a way to sync a confluence page or part of it with an Jira issue?

Our use case is the following:
We want to write the specification for some software in confluence. At some point we want to create jira issues out of that specification. However it is possible that the specification needs to be adjusted later on and this changes should be synced to jira so that the description of the jira issue always matches the content of the confluence page.

I know that it is possible to create a Jira Issue from some text on a confluence page but I have 2 problems with that:

* It only seems to support plain text. No images or tables.

* Once the issue is created it is linked on the confluence page but doesn't really get synced. If I change the content of the confluence page the jira issue isn't updated

Do you know any plugins that might help us achieve this sync?

I agree with @Ravi Sagar _Sparxsys_ Scriptrunner for Confluence would be the way to go.
I shared a script a couple weeks ago here that creates a confluence page based off a Jira filter.  Modifying that to go the other direction wouldn't be all that difficult (not that easy either but still not that difficult).

There's some examples for creating Jira issues in the Adaptavist Library, adapting those to your requirements wouldn't be that difficult either:

Hi @Rudi Wagner

What exactly do you want to sync? Some content from Confluence page to Jira fields or status?

You can use ScriptRunner for Jira to do that, I think there was a similar question recently on the community as well.

Basically i want to sync content from a confluence page to the description field of the corresponding jira issue.

Oh that should be easy using ScriptRunner for Jira app.

Like Craig Nodwell likes this

Do you have any hints on how? I couldn't figure out how to know which part of the page belongs to the jira Issue... And there is still the problem with  images and tables or do you suggest to also handle the creeation of the Jira issue with an own ScriptRunner-script?

Hi Rudy,

we offer an app that keeps Jira and Confluence in sync for documentation purposes.

It works the other way around as you described the documentation process.

You can automate rules in Jira to create confluence pages from templates. The created pages contain the actual information of the linked jira issue and will stay up to date as every update in jira will be reflected in the confluence page.

With this approach you can ensure to have a complete documentation of your jira issues in confluence in a very structured manner.

The App is called AutoPage:
