Smart links to Confluence pages: how to show content in display card view?

Hi there,

I'm trying to understand what information the 'display card' view is pulling in smart links, specifically when linking to other Confluence pages (on Confluence Cloud). There is no information anywhere other than this from a 2-year old post

"Smart Links card view provides even richer detail. You can see a small preview of the content, plus additional information about it."

I've tested with multiple Confluence pages / overview pages with excerpt, info panel macros, headers etc, and the behaviour does not appear to be consistent (I get different outcomes when pulling 'overview' pages of different spaces, some show details, some nothing).

Can you please help share a clear spec e.g. what we can add to our Confluence pages in order to show X/Y/Z on a Card link-view?

Can any content from a space overview page be displayed in a card view?

Many thanks.

This also seems to simply decide wholly on its own whether or not to even offer the card or inline or embed options at all.

Sometimes it offers options for links, other times it will not even offer. Just skips the smart link object stuff entirely. Even Link Preferences (administration) doesn't respond as expected.

We have zero control or say.

It's super dumb.
