Search in Confluence

Hey Atlassian Community,

I am testing the Confluence 'Search Engine Optimization.'

I created many articles in Confluence. As a test one called Google Service and the other one Google with a description of what is Google and I have even labeled it the following, ' what is Google' and 'whatisgoogle'. How come, when I search for either 'whatisgoogle' or 'what is google' the first suggestion is the Google Service and how do I fix it, so the SEO gives me the 'more correct' suggestion first?

Thanks a lot, you have always been of great help!

Hi Hubert,

You can affect the search rankings in Confluence a bit - here are the elements that weight a search result:

Document Age

Newer Documents will be given a slightly higher score than older documents. Keep in mind that doesn't mean that newer documents will appear first, just that they give a slightly higher weight.

Confluence will look at the number of words within a title (excluding minor words, such as "the", "and" etc), and will check how many times a word appears in the title.

As with the title, Confluence will look at the number of words within the content, and check how many times the number of words appear in the content.

Popular pages are those that have more incoming links. A page that has more incoming links will be ranked higher than other pages that share similar content.

So for example, cross-referencing your pages and providing more incoming links to particular pages could bump them up in the search results.

In addition to trying to manipulate rankings through the factors above, we also have an open feature request to simply adjust the rankings as an administrative function: CONFCLOUD-15619For more information about how Atlassian prioritizes feature requests made on, check out this Community post.
