Search for space key at organisation level

Edited

Hello team,

In the future we will be managing hundreds of spaces spread over potentially hundreds of sites within a given organisation, and routinely need to locate specific information without knowing which site those spaces are located.

Using the existing search and advanced search, it doesn't seem to be possible to search for a specific space key or page across all sites at an organisation level, and instead only possible at a site level.

Is there any way we can expand the search so that it looks outside of the current site for spaces in the current organisation level?

We can potentially make use of taxonomy on space names to 'more easily' identify what site they belong, however looking for an easier solution.

Regards,
Sean

Hi @Sean Hutchinsoon

I've been searching for a relative issue on jira.atlassian.com, but haven't found anything. I have a feeling that this is currently not supported. Out of curiosity, have you connected multiple confluence instances under the same organization?

Hello Alex,

Thanks for the message, and yeah I did a very similar search looking for anything online but coming to the same conclusion.

Yep that's correct, we have an enterprise license with Atlassian and essentially we have a need to have multiple sites and spaces within those sites.

At the moment it's a pretty laborious process of having a lot of dedicated bookmarks to the appropriate site for ones I access regularly, but if the site is unknown to myself I have to manually look through sites to find the space in question.

Understandable the search didn't support this out of the box, as a Server / Data Centre is effectively a single site which contains all spaces, but now we have the concept of a site under a single organisation, it's a bit tricky to navigate around.

Hopefully a member of the Atlassian team can help us out

Cheers,
Sean

@Sean Hutchinsoon if you are on Enterprise, raise a request/question directly to Atlassian at https://support.atlassian.com/contact

They'll be able to provide a more solid response. And I would suggest that you share your findings here.

I'll give that a try Alex, thank you :-)

Atlassian have raised a feature request : https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-75785

I've added my vote, and would appreciate anyone else reading this ticket to please also add their vote :)

Thanks again for your help Alex, much appreciated

Cheers,
Sean
