Restricting access to user names in URLs

Damien Desrousseaux August 11, 2013

Hello,

We use email addresses as usernames in our Confluence instance and such we would like to hide the usernames in user profiles URLs like /display/~damien@example.com

Currently every user can view these URLs by entering a username into the search box, or with the mouse hover a user in the forum plugin that we use.

I found a similar topic here : https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-1882 with a workaround to prevent access to user profiles URLs when you try to open it, but it doesn't prevent the users to view the URL on the link.

Is there a way to hide the usernames in URLs or to completely disable the links to user profiles maybe?

Thank you.

Hi Damien,

It seems that you were in the right track. :)

I couldn't find a option to hide the usernames in the URL, so I believe this would fall in the open improvements like this.

I suggest to vote in those features to rise their chances to be implemented.

Regards,

Rodrigo

Thank you Rodriguo.

I have voted for it but as i understand it is quite hopeless (53 votes :( ).

Maybe I should consider writing a confluence plugin myself if it is not too hard for a beginner like me.

Regards,

Damien
