I would like to insert images in my confluence page without displaying the "Open filename.jpg" link left of the image. In the edit mode it looks perfectly fine and even centered, e.g.
But on the live page it looks like this:
Is that anything I can change? Or is it some administrator display setting I don't have access to?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hi @Dennis Ku , welcome to the Atlassian Community!
I’ve uploaded an image to a blank page using both drag-and-drop and the upload button, but nothing like this happens after publishing.
Are you placing images inside a macro? How are you adding images to the page?
I can't replicate that either

Thank you for the welcome!
I usually simply copy paste the image, but even using the image upload function or using drag-and-drop yields the same result.
Clicking on the link or the image itself shows an overlay like this:
Could it perhaps be due to a plugin or something?

Hmm, the file name appears as the default alt text, so maybe this is a special feature of the browser, app, or copy tool. However, since this behavior occurs with new uploads, I would bet it's related to the app/custom script.
Regarding the browser, I used Chrome. My Confluence instance doesn't use any apps (except my own development app). I even checked browser extensions that display alt text, but those shouldn't affect the page content - they only show an overlay.
In terms of image previews, the file name is visible there, so it's a good practice to use meaningful file names.
...On the hand, this behavior might occur because the alt text is displayed when the image wasn't properly added, or the file is corrupted, and the alt text is doing its job. However, in such cases, it should be visible in the editor as well, not just after publishing.

I'm also using Chrome and I don't think that the copy tool does it since if I manually upload it via the upload feature, the text is there as well.
I checked the apps and there is only a calendar and analytics app, so nothing that should be affecting how images are displayed. I don't have any browser extensions either.
But thank you for trying to think of possibilities why it's behaving like that!
