Hello!
I oversee documentation for a journalism company, and have a couple questions related to the search function in our Confluence space.
Recently, we noticed that our search bars are no longer applying filters. That means the searches are querying our entire site, instead of a targeted space. Any ideas on how to re-apply space filters to the search bar queries?
At the same time, the physical appearance of the search bars has changed. They've been shortened and don't quite look as nice on the screen. Any thoughts on how we might change that?
I've included screen grabs for both situations below ;-)
Thank you so much!
Todd
@Todd Milbourn Your first screenshot shows that no filters are applied. When you set a filter, it is indicated in the dropdown like this:
As for the size of the box displayed for the Live Search macro, it seems to be set to the width of the Search bar text defined in the macro. Whether this is a defect or working as designed, I don't know, since the information on this page (https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-the-livesearch-macro/) doesn't match the parameters of the Live Search macro on my page.
Thank you so much @Barbara Szczesniak I really appreciate it.
A quick follow-up, if you're up for it: when I attempt to establish a particular space as a filter in the search macro, only a select number of spaces are showing up as options. For some reason, certain of our spaces are available as options for filters, but others aren't.
So my question: Do you have any suggestions for making a particular space visible so I can add as a filter for search?
Thanks!!

@Todd Milbourn When you first open the Space filter box, I think the Suggested list shows spaces you have used recently (or maybe spaces you have marked as favorites). If you start typing in the Find a space box at the top, this list should populate with matching space names that you have permissions to view.
If you are not seeing a space that you are looking for, then, as @Prakash Murugesan mentioned, you may not have permissions for that space.

Hi, review the configuration settings for the search function in Confluence. You can navigate to the search configuration settings and confirm that the appropriate space filters are applied. Check if there have been any recent updates or changes to the search configuration that might have affected the filtering functionality

Thank you @Prakash Murugesan Much appreciated. I'll ask you the same follow-up question I asked Barbara, in case you're available and have additional insight :-)

@Todd Milbourn Plz check if you have sufficient permissions to view and access the space you want to add as a filter . also go to the space settings and ensure that it is not restricted or hidden from search results
Sometimes, spaces may not appear in the search options due to indexing issues. Try reindexing the space by going to Space Tools > Content Tools > Reindex.
plz let me if it helps to fix
