Preserve static text in confluence template?

Is it possible to make text fixed and uneditable in a confluence template?

Or are templates just applied at the time of creation, and the page becomes just a regular page after?

I was hoping that the template form would be the means of editing a page if it uses a template, and if I make changes to a template in the future, all pages that use the template will see the static text updated, but it seems to be converted into a regular page where everything is editable.

Hi @Vincent Lo and welcome to the Community.

Maybe you can try using an Insert Excerpt.

Create a page, use the excerpt macro and put the protected text in it. Restrict the page.

Then, in template, use Insert Excerpt.

Of course, users would be able to delete the except, but would not be able to tinker with the text.

BTW, it should also work on the Page Include level.

Thanks Kristian, that's a creative workaround and I'll keep it in mind. Hoping Confluence releases more robust templating features in the future, because the way it is right now feels like nothing more than duplicating a page as loose copies.

Also it seems URLs are not parsed and rendered as previewable URLs when you fill in the template form.
