Lars Nordin May 30, 2012

Is it possible to restore space from an XML site backup or from external backup (database dump and filesystem backup)?

If the XML created is the whole site backup, then it is not possible to restore just a space from it. However you can actually restore the whole site to a staging environment using the XML backup (not recommended for huge instance) or the database backup.

When the new instance is ready, create the space XML export then restore it to the targeted instance.

Please take note that you will need to create the space XML export from the same major version as the target instance as describe on the mentioned documentation.

Hope it helps.

You can do it from an XML space backup.

Yes, but I don't have an XML space backup.
