We are trying to find a way to lock down individual pages under a single Confluence space. There are hundreds of pages, and each page would need different people who have rights to it. They only thing they need to do is drop attachments on that page. Is there an easier way than setting permissions by page?
Are we talking multiple permutations of users for individual pages?
Ad hoc, as per immediate need, approach is possible but looks rather taxing.
I would try to reduce the number of permutation by creating user groups and apply restrictions on pages as per user group. It depends on your setup and needs but chances are it would help.
A very advanced approach would be to create a 'compound space' that would consist of content that is synced into it from a selection of other spaces (let's call them minor spaces). This would allow you to control access and permissions within those minor space where you'd have a smaller cohort of users.
This would allow for a less complex permission control as the 'compound space' would be just the destination (maybe even read only for most users), while all the authoring would take place in 'minor' spaces. There is an app for that (Space Sync for Confluence).
The compound space won't work for us, because we don't allow anonymous access, so we can't use Excerpt or Include Page since that requires people to have access to the source space in order to see the info. I'm trying to get the team to allow that kind of access because it would make things a lot easier, but I'm expecting a no, so I want to make sure there isn't anything that I'm just not aware of. It's looking like I'm just going to have to try to group them as much as I can so I don't have as many pages to restrict. Thank you!

@Nikki Hailey You don't have to allow anonymous access on the compound space.

Hi @Nikki Hailey you can apply the page level restrictions.

Yes, but that is a lot of manual labor for that number of pages. And it would be a nightmare to try to keep up with.

@Nikki Hailey I would delegate the setting of the permissions to responsible people who can set the restrictions on the group of pages they would be able to access. Those would be the people who should know who to give the access for that page.
