PDF exports have miss aligned tables

Paul Silva September 13, 2024

Hi There,

I'm having issues with the PDF export of pages where the alignment is not correct. I've been reading that the newer PDF export does not support @page tags and if it does exist it should vert back to the older pdf export. This is causing issues with our teams that send reports to our customers. Is there a fix for this?

Hi @Paul Silva there are several open issues with exporting pages to PDF, including issues with tables.  I took a quick look at Atlassian's Jira site and came across this issue.

Here's the query I used to search. "project = "Confluence Cloud" and text ~ export and text ~ pdf and text ~ "table" and status != Closed"

If you wanted to confirm, you could contact Atlassian Support.

If you find one that fits, feel free to vote for and watch it for updates.  If the ticket is different than what I found, feel free to post it, so I can watch and vote for it too.

Thanks @Dan Breyen as I did find a ticket related to the issue. Looking at the ticket it indicated a workaround to remove the custom CSS. Unfortunately there is no doc to take you through the steps to remove the custom CSS in a space. Deleting the code in the PDF Export / PDF stylesheet with in the space in Confluence Cloud doesn't work as it still is pulling from the Global Settings.

I think I will need to post a question related to it in the community.

Hi @Paul Silva

Take a look at the Scroll PDF Exporter app.

a) it produces much better results out of the box compared to the stock PDF exporter

b) you can create PDF export templates which would address your per-space approach

c) to customize the look and feel, you don't need to know CSS. And you can keep the global CSS and use the Scroll app where the stock exporter fails.

Back at CA Technologies, were were using that app to offer PDF export option to customers, taking advantage of customization to fit ultra-wide mainframe tables onto a single page.
