Hello @Jenny Gallagher ,
If you are seeking a solution without using third-party apps, Atlassian has introduced a Space Report for all Cloud subscriptions that provide a count of content and attachments per space.
If you prefer not to create these reports manually, there are apps available in the Marketplace, like the previously mentioned app, that can provide this information.
I'm not sure if I understood your second question correctly. Are you interested in knowing how many pages each user has created or edited? If so, our Viewtracker app comes with this report that provides the number of pages each user has viewed, created, edited, and commented on for the desired date range and shows which pages they performed these actions on. Furthermore, this app comes as well with reports that provide you with content counts and more information.
Kind Regards,
Mattia
The Better Content Archiving app provides space dashboards which display the page count and a lot more metrics and charts for each space:
The similar dashboard is available also for the whole Confluence site!
(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users!)

Thank you! I was not aware of this fancy dashboard.

Good day Miss Gallagher,
Unfortunately, currently there is "no best" way to determine this number of pages without having third-party apps or without premium (confluence analytics).
One simple but powerful workaround is using the Confluence's Advanced Search. Simply head to this search, input your desired space and click search. It will then return the number of pages available in said space (please note view permissions apply).
Alternatively, your team can consider using analytics apps from the marketplace to streamline this information gathering; some of them (like the mentioned above) can reveal it via UI, exports and even API calls.
Hope this helps and wish you a great day.
Rodrigo

Thank you. This is helpful. I am able to see all pages that a user has both created and edited, but I can't seem to get a count on the pages they've created (not edited).

Best I can find without using a macro is the space Analytics.
Then find the Page menu
And then go to the last selection of pages on the bottom and that last number is the total count.
In this space we have 332 pages. I'm sure there is a better way if you look thru the Marketplace.
