Open Links in New Tab by Default

Christine Aletti January 2, 2025

In Confluence Cloud, is it possible to get links to open in a new tab by default? I could have sworn some links to spaces or pages within Confluence opened in a new tab, but now I cannot replicate this. Is it inconsistent? Is it possible to change the default Global configuration?

Hello @Christine Aletti

It does not appear that there is any global setting in Confluence Cloud related to this.

From posts I found in this community the options seem to be:

  1. right-click on the link and select open in new tab
  2. I saw a recommendation for a Chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stackoverflow-jira-extern/omobkjbchckaocdkcbeapemooohjgbnk
  3. Another user said download an HTML macro for cloud
