I am trying to familiarize myself with the new tasks/notification feature, and relying upon your online documentation - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Managing+Tasks+in+Confluence
1. Is there way for users to be notified via email, in addition to the notifications icon, when a task has been assigned? (I don't see this option in the email preferences.)
2. The following sentence in your documentation doesn't make sense:
To complete a task, or mark it as incomplete, choose the check box next to the task. Completing a task and marking it incomplete seem like opposites; is this just a typo?
The problem supposedly went away on its own. An Atlassian technician looked into it, asked me to try again and it worked. I asked what they did to resolve it and they said they didn't do anything. I readily admit when a problem is "user error" or PEBCAK but I *know* that it wasn't working when I initially tried it, and I didn't do anything differently after the tech asked me to try again. Suspicious if you ask me.
Re the non-typo... If it's "confusing" why not reword it for clarity??? I would reword this to say: "To complete a task, click the check box next to the task."
I don't mean to sound snippy - I love Confluence and your support is great. The tasks/notifications are nice features to have, thanks.

Hi Susan,
1) Glad you're looking into the new features! Assigning a task to someone means you "mention" them somewhere in the task description. Users should be notified via email this way, including when a task is assigned to them. Mentions should be in email preferences for a user.
2) This isn't a typo, but it is a bit confusing. All it means is that you can check the box next to a task to mark it as complete, or uncheck it to mark it as incomplete.
