New editor does not allow me to resize images to what they used to be, thus destroying my icons

Elizabeth Moffatt June 9, 2020

I'm having huge issues with the new editor and resizing images to what they used to be. I had a series of icons on one page; now I have a series of forcibly larger images. Et voila:

How do I resolve this? I can't see any other way to manage the image size other than through these bar thingies they've added on the side. I'm really hoping Atlassian isn't just now mandating how large things can be.

It's such a pain, because the page got a lot of good feedback, and now it looks like a bag of balls.

I found a workaround

Open the Article in One Tab say TAB 1 and the same Article in Editor Mode in another Tab say TAB2

Copy the Image from the Article in TAB 1 and paste it in TAB 2

It worked for me.

Hello Elizabeth,

Thank you for raising these issues with us; I'll be helping you with both of your questions today.

In this case, I believe you're running into the following bug:

  • CONFCLOUD-69403 Images such as small png icons inserted/pasted on a new editor page are not resizing/rendering correctly

NOTE:

  • PNG, JPG, and SVG files are currently affected.
  • Occasionally, images larger than 128px are affected, even if they were uploaded through the Files and Images menu.

As a workaround, you can either use the Legacy Editor Template to recreate your page, or upload the icons as an Emoji. See Use symbols, emojis, and special characters for more information.

If you wish to use the Legacy Editor template, when creating a new page, you should have this option:

If you don't have it, you have your organization raise a ticket with our Cloud Support team in order to enable the template on your site.

Please note, that due to our new security requirements, only site admins and primary contacts of the Cloud site are able to raise support tickets. So, you may need to get in touch with someone from your organization with those permissions if you do not have those permissions yourself.

I'm investigating now your question on How do I even link things in the new editor without asking someone with a bigger screen to do it?, so I'll be following-up with you there soon!

Take care,

Shannon
