I have successfully logged into Confluence, but my project members cannot find me in Confluence and therefore cannot grant me permission to view the workspace.

Hi @Yedan.Zhuang Welcome to the community!

If your project members cannot find you in Confluence, and thus cannot grant you permission to view the workspace, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue:

1. Check Your Confluence License

Ensure that you have a valid Confluence license assigned to your account. Even if you've successfully logged in, you may not appear in the user search if your account isn't licensed for Confluence.

How to check: Ask a Confluence administrator to check if you have a valid Confluence user license assigned to you via the User Management page in Jira/Confluence.

2. Verify User Directory Visibility

Confirm that your user account is visible in the user directory. Sometimes, if there are settings that limit visibility or if you’re in an external directory (like LDAP), your account may not show up in searches.

How to check: Ask an admin to check the User Management settings for visibility.

3. Check Permission and Group Assignment

Even if you have access to Confluence, you might not have the necessary group membership to be found or given workspace permissions.

Solution: Ask the admin to ensure you are added to the appropriate groups (e.g., confluence-users or project-specific groups) and given permissions to access the desired space.

4. Check Username/Email

Ensure that your team members are searching for the correct username or email associated with your Confluence account. If your Jira/Confluence account is linked to a different email, that could cause issues in locating you.

Ask them to search by your full email address to ensure they find the correct account.

5. Sync Issues (If Using an External Directory or Atlassian Access)

If your company uses an external directory service (e.g., LDAP, SAML, or Atlassian Access), it’s possible that there is a sync issue between the directory and Confluence.

Solution: Request the IT admin or Confluence admin to sync the directory manually and check if your account becomes visible afterward.

6. Invite via Email

If the search is still not yielding results, your team members can invite you directly using your email address. This can be done from the Space Permissions page by clicking Add People and typing your email.

7. Clear Browser Cache/Log Out and Log In

Sometimes logging in for the first time may not fully register your user details across all systems. Try logging out of Confluence, clearing your browser cache, and then logging back in.

If the issue persists, contacting Confluence support or your organization's IT helpdesk (if managed internally) may be necessary for further investigation into your account.
