Hi there,
we are currently trying to move our self-hosted Confluence from an old web server to a new one.
We tried to follow the instructions provided, by first downloading the installer and then trying to follow the setup process, and import our database dump from the old system after - but that just led to tomcat exceptions, stuff like "Unable to register MBea".
Then we tried to simply import from a current backup instead - but that fails after a while, due to the backup file size (6.7 GB)
Does any one know if there are specific server settings we could fine-tune/limits to increase, to be able to import a backup from a file this size?
Or can specific areas of the running confluence on the old server be exported separately maybe, so that we could import a couple of smaller files separately?
Thanks,
Christoph
hi @Minax Intermedia GmbH _ Co_ KG ,
did you followed this process.
Hi there,
yes, this is what we tried.
We removed everything, and started the whole process over.
Now we are getting the following error message:
> BootstrapException: Unable to bootstrap application: Could not make directory/ies: /var/atlassian/application-data/confluence
chown/chmod for the home directory have been set for the user 'confluence' as explained here already, https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/startup-check-setting-your-confluence-home-935907597.html
Any idea what the problem could be now?
Thanks,
Christoph

The error message (without knowing for sure what is going on, to be honest) just suggests there is no writing to the mentioned directory possible.
Checking permissions is a good start, possible also checking for enough remaining disk space - but if this is not of any help you would need to diagnose it further, directly on the server.
Are you migrating from a windows to a windows server or from a linux to a linux server - or a mixture of both?
