after playing around a bit it seems like migrating spaces works by simply exporting as XML and importing again in the cloud.
Hi Florian,
Maren here from Atlassian. To help anyone else with similar questions in the future, I wanted to add some additional guidance.
We've recently updated our Confluence Cloud space import to support GDPR compliance in cloud. As a result, space import (the method Florian describes) will not work if you are importing from Confluence Server version 6.13 or earlier.
Instead, we recommend using the Cloud Migration Assistant for Confluence for all server to cloud imports. The Migration Assistant can be used with Confluence Server versions 5.10 and later.
If you have questions about the guidance or comments for our team, let us know below!
Cheers,
Maren

Maren, I just upgraded to Confluence Server version 5.10 so we could migrate to the cloud. However, we are using SQL Server as our database back-end and it won't work as it looks like the migration assistant is trying to create a BOOLEAN data type in a table in SQL Server, which is not supported:
caused by: liquibase.exception.LockException: liquibase.exception.DatabaseException: Column, parameter, or variable #2: Cannot find data type BOOLEAN. [Failed SQL: CREATE TABLE MIG_DB_CHANGELOG_LOCK (ID INT NOT NULL, LOCKED BOOLEAN NOT NULL, LOCKGRANTED datetime, LOCKEDBY VARCHAR(255), CONSTRAINT PK_MIG_DB_CHANGELOG_LOCK PRIMARY KEY (ID))]
So what are my options for migration now that you don't support XML backup importing? Do I have to install a stand-alone Confluence installation, restore to that from the XML backup

Hi there,
I'd reach out to our migration support team for advice in your case. They should be able to highlight the best path given your current setup, and confirm if the error you're seeing is known.
Cheers,
Maren

I get error 404 Page Not Found when using your link. I cannot find any support pages on your site to reach your migration support team nor find it with a Google Search - everything points to the migration assistant (which obviously doesn't work :) ).

Hi Jeremy,
Apologies for that, not sure why the link's not working.
Just use our standard support link, and then to make sure it gets to our migration support team quickly, select "Migration support" in the first dropdown.
Here's that link again just in case: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/
Cheers,
Maren
