Managing workflow

I was hoping for some advice on how to use my Confluence spaces. Unfortunately we use Confluence OnDemand which makes what I'd like to do pretty tricky.

We have two main spaces. One is internal only. Here we create and update our technical documentation. The other is for customers. When we are happy with our documentation in the internal space, we copy that to the customer facing space. Unfortunately, other than using the CLI tool (which I've not yet got working and I'm a bit scared of!) I cannot copy multiple pages, so when I have a large update it's really really time consuming to copy and move a large number of pages from space 1 to space 2. And when it comes to updates, I'll need to copy the changed content and paste it over. Seriously?!?!

There must be other people who deal with this. Does anyone have a method that works for them and could potentially work for me?

Thanks so much in advance,

Helen

Confluence Command Line Interface should do what you want. Open an issue with some details of what you are having problems with and we can get it working for you. Our external site is OnDemand, so we use it interally all the time for similar needs.

Thanks Bob. If I'm not mistaken, the Confluence CLI is yours? I have downloaded this and tried it out but I don't think I have access to run the commands (and as I said before, I'm a little bit scared of it!). It's on my to do list to get this running... And hopefully it will indeed do what I need.

Yes. It is one of those things that if you invest a bit of time upfront to install and configure it for easy access to your installation, then it will provide solutions to various admin issues as they come up.

Hi Helen,
Please have a look at this page.
Since you use OnDemand, the Copy Space plugin will not be available to you, however the "Manually Clone Or Rename A Space" section might provide you with a better alternative than manually copying pages over all the time.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for this. I'll take a proper look. It might work however, we won't want to copy the entire space as not all of it will be ready to copy at any time...

(Your first link "look at this page" just links to this page... Was there another link you meant to include?)

Yes, the link was intented to point to the same page as the second link, I inserted the wrong url there, I have corrected this. I just wanted to emphasize that there are multiple solutions, however one of them is not available to you since you use the OnDemand version of Confluence
