Lost space admin permissions access

I've lost admin access to two spaces. I can still view the content of the spaces, but I am unable to manage space settings or page content. I am a site admin and org admin, but the users who had admin access to two of our spaces are no longer with the company and can't assign me admin control.  How do I assume admin control over these spaces?

I was able to do this by setting default space settings and then applying them to the spaces by reverting permissions to the default settings for each space here: 

Settings >> Security >> Space Permissions
