JIRA linked Confluence server's login is not working

Our JIRA linked Confluence's login is not working with message follwing:

Hi Eric,

Do you happen to be using Crowd? Have a look at this article:

Crowd user authentication fails with 'Directory 'X' is not functional during authentication' error

It appears to have helped users on Community that were having the same error.
