Is there an ability to merge tabular content from multiple pages into a single page?

Rajiv Menon November 3, 2019

Hi everyone, we have a system today where multiple teams within a program maintain individual pages with their team's information in those pages. The information is in the form of a  standard table and all teams use the same format.

Is it possible to create a master page where the information from all these pages can be merged in such a way that the master page has the same table format but with the content from all multiple pages. And also have this master page refreshed each time new content is added/updated to an individual page?

Thanks for reading and suggestions!

Hi @Rajiv Menon

There are a few options:

  • Include Page Macro: If the other pages just contain tables, you could use this to show each page grouped onto one. This would keep the tables separate - so not as one, summarised table.
  • Excerpt Include / Excerpt: Similar to the above for pages with more than just a table on them - you can choose to show just the table on the summary page using "Excerpt Include" and use "Excerpt" to house that data on the master pages.
  • Page Properties / Page Properties Report: This is if your tables are simple summaries of a project (eg. Owner, Status, etc) rather than longer, detailed lists. See the linked Confluence page for "Page Properties" for an example

Outside of that, you'd need to consider more powerful macros from apps such as:

There's documentation for the Apps as part of their Marketplace offering - have a look through and see which one works best for you :)

Thank you @Ste Wright !..I have used the page properties option but didnt know it could be extended to consolidate across multiple pages. I'll try this and the other options and inform on the level of success..thanks again for the suggestions!

Hi @Rajiv Menon

In addition to @Ste Wright

Table Excerpt Include macro can include content wrapped with Table Excerpt macro from multiple pages  at once. Wrap Table Excerpt Include macro with Table Transformer macro merge all included tables into a single table that will be updated whenever tables on source pages are updated. Then you can filter the table, aggregate data and build charts with Table Filter and Charts.
