On a client site, users are attaching .avi and .dll files to their Confluence pages - where the management only wishes to have .doc, .txt, .xml, etc...
Is there a 'white list' functionality where we can define which file types they can add?
We're running Confluence version 7.2 on this location.
Hello Mary,
Welcome to Atlassian Community. We hope that you are able to find what you are looking for.
Before we proceed, I am quite concerned about the version you are running on.
We're running Confluence version 7.2 on this location.
Do you mean that you are using 6.7.2? As Confluence does not have version 7.2 to yet. Or you regarding this issue to Jira version 7.2?
As of now, it does not look like there is a free option. You may use a third party plugin to resolve this issue.
If you do not like this plugin you can discover more similar plugin in our marketplace.
Thanks, Kenny!
You're correct - I am running 6.7.2 - dyslexic slippery fingers miss things.
I'm not all so new, either (Nic Brough will attest to that) I just usually force my clients to ask the questions to get them used to crowd solutions - however the hello is much appreciated!
I appreciate the plugin advice - it would be more of assessing the ROI with our client on the value of adding another plugin. In the interim I've suggested they lower the attachment size limit from 1000MG (not a typo) down to 20MG. It probably will meet their immediate need!

Hi Mary,

I got to say. I don't know what is the unit for MG stands for. :(
Lowering down the size limit(in MB) will most definitely work for most cases as Avi and DLL file size are way larger than most document type files. However, it will not be a perfect solution if you would like to prevent certain media. Just to make sure that you are aware this may be some of the scenarios that you might face.
Hope that helps :)
