Hi is thee a way to use a Checkbox on a confluence page for the functionality of easily marking a choice on or off without editing the page and without cluttering up the space with non-task items?
@Randall Fye Welcome to Confluence Cloud!
You can use the Action Item macro to insert checkboxes where you need them. Checkboxes can be toggled on/off in view mode, no need for users to edit the page to interact with them.
Hope this helps!
Andy, you missed the most important part of his question. ... is there a way to use a Checkbox in confluence WITHOUT cluttering up the space with non-task items (NOT USING ACTION items).
We have dozens of groups using Confluence to capture meetings, and everyone wants to use a checkbox for Attendance. it works great except that everyone has hundreds of meaningless Action items either OPEN (for when they dont attend) or closed for when they do.
I see dozens of this request of Atlassian when I do a google search, and Atlassian/Confluence still has not found a way to create a Non-Action Item checkbox.

Aura has a killer plugin which has many things. One of them is a status builder that lets you build custom status macros that can be toggled/engaged in View mode. This would allow your users to track attendance without using a checkbox.

I'm not affiliated. We just use it. It's got a large number of very useful macros all in one.
Cheers

Sure would be nice for Atlassian to offer a NON action item checkbox... especially for those of us who can't add a bunch of plug-ins

I agree , I want to create an intake form in confluence and have check boxes the team can fill in.

Afraid that @Andy Gladstone's answer is missing a significant part of the request: "without cluttering up the space with non-task items". Also looking for a checkbox that would not create a task (so as to not add junk to task reports).
#1 use case: attendance list in a meeting template!
