I'm looking for a way to display the same content in different languages on a single confluence page but also keep the ability to use excertps macros.
Hello @Edouard Langis
Welcome to the community.
Using our Translations for Confluence app means using macros to display content in different languages on a Confluence page. You place one macro per language and fill it with the desired content.
Unfortunately, there is a technical limitation on Confluence Cloud: that macros cannot be nested inside each other. For this reason, you will not be able to place the excerpt macro in other macros.
If using excerpts macros is essential for you, you must choose a solution that creates one Confluence page per language and links them together.
Kind regards,
Mattia
Hi Mattia !
Thanks for the answer.
Can you guide me towards a or multiple solutions that would allow to creates one Confluence page per language and links them together ?
Also is there a way to see if Confluence has any plan to work on that limitation in their roadmap ? I know other tool are doing it such as Notion so maybe it is something they want to work on to stay competitive ?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi @Edouard Langis,
good question!
You can take a look if this feature request fits your needs: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-64788?filter=98690&jql=project%20%3D%20CONFCLOUD%20AND%20resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20text%20~%20%22multiple%20language%22%20ORDER%20BY%20priority%20DESC%2C%20updated%20DESC
If not, you can create your own request - and let us know so that we can also vote for it to support you 😊

Hello @Edouard Langis
The following apps for Confluence Cloud help you create translations and link them together.
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221377/easy-translator-for-confluence
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221754/interlingo-translator-for-confluence
All 3 have their advantages. Therefore, I recommend comparing your requirements with the description in their marketplace listings and app documentation. You can also test all apps in the Marketplace free of charge for 30 days and see which one best meets your needs.
After that, I recommend that you also compare the prices of the apps. All three offer their apps for free for up to 10 users. The prices differ for more than 10 users, and you must check which suits your budget.
Regarding your question about the nesting limitation, Atlassian has introduced a new cloud framework called Forge. This framework will allow apps to run directly on the Confluence Cloud, eliminating the current security concerns and allowing nesting. It will take time for Atlassian to complete the Forge feature and for all vendors to rewrite their apps.
Kind regards,
Mattia
