Hi @AnnWorley, thanks so much for the response. Actually, I already have the script described in the article implemented in our instance of Confluence. That solution works 98% of the time for external links.
However, for example, when someone includes a link in a JIRA issue, and the link shows up in my Confluence workbox (because I'm a watcher on the issue), the link will not open in a new tab.
Thus, I'm wondering if there is a way in wiki markup to specify something similar to target_blank. Thanks again!

Please help me understand where you would add the wiki markup. I am guessing to the notification workbox but I don't understand how that would make the Jira issue link open in a new tab. I welcome clarifications from the Community as well. :)

For example, to write a link in wiki markup, you would write [Google|www.google.com].
In html with target blank, <a href=“www.google.com” target=“_blank”>Google</a>.
Is there a way to specify target = “_blank”, or something similar in wiki markup?
I’m not looking to make a site global change. I’m looking for a method to write a single link that will open in a different tab/new window using wiki markup. Thanks!

Did this ever get a response? It would be super helpful if this could be done on a link by link basis.
