Is there a simple way to make a customized Confluence Home Page with the side navigation bar?

Hello, I need my Confluence Yodas to please explain to me a straight forward way to create a customized home page that is the landing page when users login.  In my research there seems to be a few methods that people use but not one seems to be comprehensive to flexible navigation.  Also as most administrators that also where many hats for their company, I do not have the time to spend on coding in the solution, nor do I feel that I should have to in order to have this simple task be easily accessible.  I do not want to buy an additional plug-in nor do I want to continue reading documentation that is either out of date for the cloud version or conflicting and time consuming.  Please can someone Yoda me some kick-ass knowledge on how to create a simple kick-ass customized Confluence home page with a side navigation bar?

May the force be with you,

Hi @Mechelle Barnes

  1. The first thing you need to do is create your landing page in Confluence, Name and publish it (e.g. Company Landing Page).
  2. If you are a Confluence administrator, click on Space Settings in the side bar, Under Space Details click Edit Space Details and set the Home Page to Company Landing Page. Ensure status = Current.
  3. Save.

Now that your home page is set, when folk log in they see the home page. You will need to edit the page how you see fit. Any pages created going forth will appear under your Company Landing Page.

You can see these pages by opening the side bar, which can be maximised or minimised to show the pages below your landing page.

You can also customise the Space Shortcuts by hovering and clicking on the button and then adding your links to the shortcuts window, so not only do you have shortcuts but also access to the pages created.

One further thing you can do on your landing page is add a Page Tree Macro left or right or center of the page and configure it to show the pages below the landing page or any other space pages.

For the best page navigation you'll have to buy a plugin. I can highly recommend Subspace Navigation for Confluence. You can see it briefly in my screenshot at the top of the page. It appears on every page.
