Is Confluence able to create this document layout?

Ronan September 17, 2021

I want to create this layout for my documents using Confluence.

- The ToC will be on the left side of the page as the navigation menu.

- Click on a node on the menu tree will load its content on the main body.

- And I can click on the < or > button located at the bottom of the main body to move forward/backward on the menu tree.

Can I get it done with Confluence, or I have to use other plugins?

Isn't the space sidebar (the left-hand navigation) your page tree?

The sidebar also lets you organise your page structure (i.e. your TOC):

For previous/next buttons, you could either create these manually or use an add-on (there are at least two in the marketplace that might do the job).

Hi @Ronan

You can achieve partially some things, but not all. For example you may have columns on your page and adjust its layout e.g.

layouts.png Clicking on an item of your ToC, will not load the page, but it will go to that point in the page. The arrows to which you are referring to, you will not achieve them with out of the box functionalities. You might want to search for an app on the marketplace.

However, my strong advise is that if you want to move your documents to confluence, don't do the mistake of transfer them exactly as you currently have them. If you want them the old way, then stay where you are, because the current status suit you. Confluence has a lot of templates to work with and hundreds of apps to install.

I would experiment a but more to see which template might suit the needs you have. If you find something, then ok! If not, then that's ok as well :)

Thanks for the quick reply, @Alex Koxaras _Relational_. I am searching on the marketplace :)
