I get this error when attempting to launch WebDav .jar after downloading from Atlassian

Hi Susan,

I suspect the problem here is that you are directly trying to open the JAR file, which isn't how it's intended to be used. I believe the most likely thing is that you have downloaded the Webdav plugin and are now trying to use this as your WebDAV client, which is leading to the error you are getting.

However, as you are using OnDemand, you don't need to configure the server end of the WebDAV connection because that has been configured as part of your OnDemand instance. So, what you need to do is follow the instructions in this document to connect to the WebDAV folder of your instance: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Uploading+Data+via+WebDAV

Please be aware that if you are using Windows 7 as the Operating System on the computer you are using to connect to the WebDAV folder, there are some problems caused by Windows that requires you to use an external client rather than the inbuilt WebDAV client, as described in this knowledge base article: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Unable+to+Authenticate+While+Mapping+A+WebDAV+Client+Network+Drive+in+Microsoft+Windows

Thank you John. What I was doing was following various other knowledge base articles to solve another probelm - determining why the media macro isn't working for me (reported here: https://support.atlassian.com/browse/JST-47565 and here https://support.atlassian.com/browse/JST-48109 ) Ensuring that I had such-and-such version of WebDAV was one of the troubleshooting steps. Of course, I suspected I had the correct WebDAV version because I am an On Demand user- but I am grasping at straws here, as none of the troubleshooting steps seem to work for me. With respect to .jar files - I am not sure, but I don't think Atlassian's documentation explains to users what to do with them once they have downloaded(?). I just did what I always do with downloads (.exe, .pdf, etc.) which is double click, expecting the usual magic to happen. I suppose your typical Confluence administrator knows better, but I am one of those non-technical people who probably has no business being an administrator. I am able to access the web dav folder using the instructions in the article you referenced, but again, that's not what I was really trying to accomplish. Anyway, I guess this answers the question posed here.
