How to use Confluence restore

Young__Hahn November 24, 2015

Hi

I am currently working on setting up Dev server for Confluence application..

Which is totally new server (same version), new URL (dev url), and new Database..

I did manual backup from our Production server.. and export that zip file out and put it into the new server (DEV)

When I use the zip file to install the new server.. it goes into the infinite mode and doesn't do anything..

Importing Data
Time Elapsed:Less than a second
Time Remaining:Unknown (estimated)
Completion:0% complete

Initializing...

Above is what I am getting on my screen..
I was watching it or about an hour.. and still doing nothing..
So I installed everything brand new..
and on the admin section.. I tried restoring from there..
but getting the same problem..
How can I build the new server with exact same data inside?

Hi Team,

The XML backup uses a lot of resources such as CPU and Memory. I suggest to review the Atlassian-confluence.log located in the confluence_home directory to search for a possible error message in the import process.

usually the XML import fails with an out of memory error message. If this is the case, try to increase confluence memory.

Another option is to restore a database backup into a staging instance in order to create a clone using this documentation. I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Rodrigo
