How to set Table Filter to be collapsed by default

I have filters around several of my tables, but I seem to prefer having the table filter be 'collapsed' when I load the page.  That way other users to dot have to collapse the filter when they view the page (as they rarely filter).

It is possible to hide filtration pane by default, but in this case it is not possible to change filtration criteria without editing the page.

I may not have been clear on the issue I am trying to resolve.  I want the filter pane to be set to 'collapsed' state by default.  I do not want the filter pane to be visible, but I want the pane to be accessible to the user to set a filter if they want to.  The Hide Filtration Pane option, hides it completely, but I only want it to be collapsed.  Is there a way to set it to be 'collapsed' by default.
