How to make my search bar show on the public page?

I have added a search box (live search) and have assigned it to my page, settings attached in screenshot. 

But when I access the public link, 'open confluence to see this content' but this just needs to be a search box for my page, or is that not possible?

@Matt Palmer If you review these pages from the documentation, you will see that the public link gives access to a single page and that visitors cannot view most macros:
