How to inject CSS within confluence email body to edit email contents

Kevin Kott January 2, 2025

Hello,

I am trying to write a short CSS script within a confluence email to remove an element. Specifically, the img.rendericon element, that erroneously shows an external hyperlink when navigating to an internal confluence link. This icon, while small, causes some serious headaches with email formatting. It tends to block text on the above lines, and cause the formatting to be skewed. Please please please, help me figure out a solution here. I have already contacted out internal Atlassian support team and they said we cannot globally turn off link decorations. If there is a way to edit them via an email body, that would be perfect. Thanks

Hi @Kevin Kott

You are probably best off looking at the Atlassian Marketplace for an app that can customize email notifications.

If you don't find anything or can't convince the powers that be to invest in an app, you can share the following url with your Atlassian Admin team.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/customizing-email-templates-168001822.html

It is unsupported and will not survive an upgrade, but instructions exist for editing the email templates.
