Now in server version we use nested number lists such as
1. nested number lists
1.1. nested number lists
1.2. nested number lists
1.2.1. nested number lists
1.2.1.1. nested number lists.
This was done using "Add the following CSS code on Confluence space Stylesheet".
But for the cloud version this does not work, since access to the "Custom Stylesheet for Spaces" item is not active in the settings.
How to have nested number lists in Confluence Cloud?
@macc_edit we make Number Heading by Easy Apps. I know paying for an app is not ideal, but you can do things Atlassian is unlikely to ever add or allow. Our app updates the numbering whenever you republish a page, that might seem obvious but it's not the case with all apps.
You can try using Scriptrunner for Confluence which can be tricky but does allow to do numerous things, but like you have said in the question it can also be a matter of what Confluence allows.
Feel free to email me to tell about your particular needs, you want to move pages from server to cloud for example. stavros@easyapps.app.
@macc_edit The out-of-the-box functionality gives you a pattern of 1, 2, 3 -> a, b, c -> i, ii, iii -> 1, 2, 3.
It seems there are third-party apps you can use to help you achieve this. You might want to start with this article published by one of the companies that makes apps available in the marketplace: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/App-Central/Numbered-Headings-in-Confluence-3-kinds-of-solutions/ba-p/2315914. Although, this says it's about headings, I believe one example shows what you are trying to achieve.

Hi @macc_edit welcome to the community! I found this Community article which talks about nested lists in the cloud with the enter & tab keys.
Hope that helps

Hi, thank you for answer. But we need numbered nested lists when importing existing data and further working in Cloud on the type
1. nested number lists
1.1. nested number lists
1.2. nested number lists
1.2.1. nested number lists
1.2.1.1. nested number lists.
1.2.1.1.1. nested number lists.
