I want to move a page but it has around 3600 child pages, it generates an error everytime I try to move them because they are too many child pages and the maximum is 2000. Can this be extended?

@Maria Romagosa Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

The maximum number of pages you can move at a time was reduced for a reason. See this article (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Changes-to-moving-content-in-Confluence-Cloud/ba-p/2554451#:~:text=Update%20(March%2026%2C%202024)%3A,1000%20pages%20per%20move%20operation!) for the reasoning. Note, this article was updated to say they raised the maximum to 1000 pages. If that is now 2000, then I don't know that the change was announced to the user community.

Hi @Maria Romagosa

There are three methods that can help you depending on circumstances (move within the space / between spaces).

  • Copy Page Tree app by Appfire - you can copy the whole tree or any Parent + child pages. You may run into a limit too, but it's easy to move pages in installments because you can always and easily select the space and the parent page.
  • Panorama by Kolekti - same principle just different UI approach - more like Windows Explorer / Mac OS Finder

Note: Moving in installments will likely result in links between the pages breaking - if moved to another space. The following method does not have rely on installments - but it works with installments too and preserves the inline links between the pages.

  • Space sync for Confluence by Ricksoft - here, you can actually synchronize pages between two spaces. The trick is that for the initial sync, you are effectively copying pages from one space to another... so it's moving and chances are you won't hit the page limit. You can then delete the original copy. This method comes with downsides but will get you around the limitation.

I use all three apps for different purposes.
