How to enable HTML Macro on Confluence cloud

I went looking for this macro per the "Enabling the HTML Macro" instructions and could not find it. Is it no longer available?

Hello Mark, HTML macro is not available in Confluence cloud. Along side option posted by another user, you can also try our add-on:  HTML & Iframe Macro for Confluence from Marketplace.

Let us know if you face any issues.

Hi @Mark Douglas ,

this feature is not available for security reason on cloud.

There's a third part add-on if you want to try https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1212279/html-macro-for-confluence-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hope this helps,

Fabio

If the feature is not available, what have you added to replace.

Are there any plans to make it available in the cloud version without needing an additional paid extension from a third party? If they were able to do it in a way that doesn't cause "security reasons", why can't Atlassian?

Well said sdove!

Can we examine Fabio's illogical response?

  • "this feature is not available for security reason on cloud. There's a third part add-on if you want to"

This feature is not available FOR SECURITY REASONS on cloud.
But...
You *CAN* get this feature... As a THIRD PARTY ADD-ONFROM THE MARKETPLACE!

So... it's insecure. And, Atlassian will not go for that... You dare not have access to an insecure feature... UNLESS... You PAY for an add-on, no worries!

FABIO, HERE'S ARE SOME QUESTIONS:

  • If the feature is insecure, why is it available from the marketplace AT ALL? If it is insecure to the point where Atlassian will not include it, what is the sense of allowing it to be sold on the marketplace?
  • Is the third party vendor able to somehow make it more secure than Atlassian is able? If the third party vendor is able to resolve the security concern, what does that say about Atlassian as a company, or their developers? I'd be ashamed.
  • Do you even *SEE* the logical falsities in your reply?

BUT IT ALL MAKE SENSE ONCE YOU REALIZE, IT IS ABOUT *THE CUSTOMER* SPENDING THOSE SWEET SWEET MARKETPLACE BUCKS!

Friends. This is gaslighting at it's finest. This is also what happens when Atlassian collects revenue from the add-on marketplace AND it's core product.

All internal work to add value to the product grinds to a halt, because it is not generating ADDED revenue as part of the core product. It is only by pushing simple things like this off to the marketplace that they will generate ADDITIONAL revenue above and beyond the now over-priced core products that continue to see features dropped in favor of the marketplace add-ons. As is evidenced here.

The evidence shows repeatedly that, as Atlassian customers, our voices mean nothing to Atlassian as a company.

I will be looking elsewhere when doing our roadmap planning.
