How to edit a confluence page without WYSWYG mode?

When I edit and existing conflluence page, the browser also bring up the GUI editor. How can I edit a confluence page in a text file?

You don't.  Confluence is a rich editor.

In theory, you could edit it in a text editor, but you'd have to be someone who can read and write xhtml and be 100% accurate when doing so.  I don't think I've ever edited any XML by hand and got it right first time.
