The email Confluence (5.4.3) sends out when a new user is created. Can this be disabled? Or customized?

Ends up you can put a bogus password in the password field which allows for you to not send an email to the user. Because the authentication is done via Active Directory this password value is ignored.

I found this, hopefully this helps:

Enabling and disabling notifications about user signup

By default, Confluence will send an email notification to all Confluence administrators whenever someone signs up to the Confluence site. The administrators (people with Confluence Administrator or System Administrator permissions) will receive this message when someone signs up either by clicking the 'Sign Up' link or by clicking the invitation URL sent by an administrator.

To disable this notification:

  1. ChooseInvite Userson the dashboard, then chooseUser Signup Options.
Or take the longer route: Choose the cog icon at top right of the screen, then choose Confluence Admin. Then chooseUsers>User Signup Options.
  2. Remove the tick fromNotify administrators by email when an account is created.
  3. ChooseSave.

Thanks. But I'm looking for the notice not to go to the user. The email to the administrators is fine. We know what to ignore. But when your system is setup for AD authentication (SSO) and the tool tells your users to reset their password... Causes a lot of confused users.
