How to deal with slow "popular content macro" query i confluence 6.4

Morten Bjerregaard February 20, 2018

I am using the "popular content macro" in conflunce  6.4.0  server.

The pages where I uge the macro have an incredibel long loading time.

Whe looking i the log I can see that  the query tkaes a long time.

"[5533ms] - UsageIndexManager::queryPopular"

I( hav set the parameteres to only look en one space - and only for pages.

Data rage 2 weeks.

Evene when I do so, it's still an encredibel loong redering time :-(

Is their af way to speed this up? - ither hardware ( more RAM, SSD) or setting the parameteres in the macro or confluence.

Hi Morten,

I understand the popular macro is slow to render, even though you set the parameters (fairly narrowly) to only pages within a specific space. The popular macro depends on the Confluence Usage Tracking Plugin which is disabled by default because of performance issues.

The plugin stores information on the file system, in the content index, so slow file storage could impact performance. Reindexing from scratch might speed up the macro temporarily, but would cause you to lose history of usage tracked by the plugin.

If the Usage Tracking plugin keeps misbehaving, please check the Atlassian Marketplace to see if any of the analytics add-ons available would be suitable for your use case.

Thanks,

Ann
