How to create space-specific groups to manage permissions

Anthony_Benitez July 12, 2017

Is there a way to create groups of users in a space to manage the read/write restrictions for individuals under these groups or do they have to be added individually?

Groups are a function of the user directory, and hence they are global things, not space things.

But the permissions and restrictions work with individuals or any groups, so you can still use them in there.

Actually I figured out how to do it. Admins can go to Space Tools > Manage Users/Groups and create space-specific groups, then you can configure permission settings using these groups.

Hello @Anthony_Benitez

Even though the question is older, I would like to add something here for other readers:

You can restrict "reading rights" in the Space settings, but not writing. This is only possible on the pages itselves. In a space you set what the users are allowed to do - in general. Shoud they see any pages?
That is explicitly set for that  page in the page settings. That's a big difference. Here are the parts of the official documentation that explain it again.
