How to avoid having to press reload every time you go back to search results on the Cloud?

Kim Landis February 15, 2019

Just in the past week or so, instead of the previous behavior that allowed you to use the browser's Back function to return to your Confluence search results after clicking one of the results, now I get this every time:

Confirm Form Resubmission

This webpage requires data that you entered earlier in order to be properly displayed. You can send this data again, but by doing so you will repeat any action this page previously performed.

  • Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page.

ERR_CACHE_MISS

This is really annoying!

Hello there Kim!

Could you test a few things for us? Here is the list:

  1. Try to search with another browser
  2. Try to clear the current browser cache and check if the issue persists
  3. If you have any kind of add-on on your browser, deactivate them

After that, let us know if this issue is still present.

Also, can you give us some details:

  1. What browser are you currently using?
  2. What version is your current browser?
  3. Does this happen with other users as well?

Let us know!

Hi Diego,

I'm using Chrome, latest. It must have updated over the weekend, because the issue stopped occurring today.

Thank you for your prompt attention!

Kim

I just tried it in Firefox, and it does still occur there, but with a different error message:

Document Expired

This document is no longer available.

The requested document is not available in Firefox’s cache.

Sorry for so many replies. The issue still does occur in Chrome (after clearing the cache), however, to reproduce it, you must do the following:

  1. Search for something in the space.
  2. Follow a search result link.
  3. Stay on the page for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Hit Back.

Hello there Kim! Thanks for keeping us up to date. Thanks for waiting. My reply took some time due to testing!

I was unable to replicate this issue using the following browsers:

  • Chrome Version 72.0.3626.109
  • Firefox Version 65.0.1 (64-bit)
  • Safari Version 12.0 (14606.1.36.1.9)

I waited for the following intervals:

  • 30 seconds
  • 1 minute
  • 2 minutes
  • 5 minutes

In those scenarios, I was able to go back to the search page.

Could you check if the behaviour is still present?

Also, could you try the following:

  1. Access from another computer
  2. Access using another network

Let us know Kim!

Thanks for checking. On the same version of Chrome that you have, I still get the following if I search, click a result, wait 30 seconds, and click the Back button:

Confirm Form Resubmission

This webpage requires data that you entered earlier in order to be properly displayed. You can send this data again, but by doing so you will repeat any action this page previously performed.

  • Press the reload button to resubmit the data needed to load the page.

ERR_CACHE_MISS

I tried it from my phone, but our site is a mess in a phone browser, and there is never a search results page.

I tried it on a VM and got the same results in Chrome (same version you tested) and in Firefox (65.0.1):

Document Expired

This document is no longer available.

The requested document is not available in Firefox's cache.

As a security precaution, Firefox does not automatically re-request sensitive documents.
Click Try Again to re-request the document from the website.

I'll try to remember to try it on another network when I get home.
