How to add About Me section to User profile

I can't figure out how to add an ABOUT ME section to User profiles, I want everyone in my organisation to have these but I can't seem to find a section. When I edit my own user, I can only do things like change my name and photo, but there is not profile free text box to write about me, despite there being an Atlassian page showing that there is one. 

Any ideas?

@Milly Gill Welcome to Confluence. Do you see a dialog like the below when you click on your profile - each of the items in the about box is editable. There is no free text box on your profile.

Thank you! Yes that is what mine looks like. I found this online which is presumably an old version of Confluence - is it something they have removed?

@Milly Gill yes, that is an older version of the editor. The documentation I provided a link to is based on the current version.

In our company users will utilize the home page of their personal space to create a more engaging version of the about me which can include their personal information. This is accomplished using the My User Manual Template.
