How do you put the root page trees in alphabetical order?

Dawnn Burrell April 5, 2019

I have created a root page, but it didn't line up alphabetically.  Is there a way to do this?

Thanks much.

Hello Dawnn,

Good to hear from you again!

You can reorder pages from Space Tools menu in Confluence Server:

See under Reorder Pages in a Space for details on how to do that.

In Cloud, it's under Space Settings > Content Tools > Reorder Pages. Expand the page tree, and you'll see where to alphabetise the pages at the top:

Let me know if you have any trouble with that.

Shannon

Hi Shannon:

Thanks for the information.

I did try applying the instructions from the link, however, I wasn't able to move some child pages to a different parent page.  I also checked my permissions and from what I could see I have permissions to move child pages to a different parent page.  Do you have any more information on how to move child pages to a different parent page or what is blocking me to be able to so?

Thanks much.

Hi Shannon:

Thanks for your help.

I figured it out and was able to reorder the child page.

Hi Shannon:

To me the instructions from the "Move and Reorder Pages" document wasn't clear to me.

Please see below a easier way to reorder "child pages" to another "parent page."

Click the “parent page” from where the “child page” is located, that will be reordered to another “parent page.”  A list of the “child pages” will appear under the “parent page.”  Then select the “child page” that will be reordered.

After the User selects the “child page” that will be reordered to another “parent page,” click on the three (3) dots in the top right corner of the screen.

After the User clicks on the three (3) dots, the drop-down menu will appear.  Then select “Move.”

After the User selects “Move,” the next screen at the top left will have the “child page” name that will be reordered.   Then type the “New parent page” name in the “New parent page section.  Note:  The current “parent page” will default in the “New parent page” section.

After the User types the “New parent page,” then click “Move.”

After the User clicks “Move,” the screen will appear showing the “child page” has been reordered to the “New parent page.”

I hope this helps - thanks much.
