How do you delete users without deleting content that they've written?

Martin Bluck August 17, 2018

My workplace use Confluence which is integrated with Active Directory, we have a couple of AD users (ex-employees) that we could do with deleting so that they don't count towards the number of licenses that we have, the problem is that they have all created a fair amount of content and we don't want to lose it.

What are some recommended ways of dealing with this? Is there a simple way of changing the owner of a page?

Martin,

Instead of deleting, just deactivate them. Please the documentation.

  • Choose Delete if the user hasn't contributed any content
  • Choose Disable to deactivate a user account if the user has contributed content
