How do I move an attachment to another page in Confluence Cloud?

K Cann February 8, 2018

Typing in the page name of the new page doesn't seem to work.

You are following the instructions according to this?

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF55/Moving+an+Attachment

to make sure the page name is correct, I would go to the page to which you want to move the attachment, click the ••• menu, and click "Page Information". Select and copy the exact page name, and then you should be able to paste it into the text box in the attachment properties (too bad there's no autofill for that particular box).

Please note that this doesn't work for moving an attachment to a page in a different space. If you want to do that, I would suggest the Bulk Action Tools Marketplace app, which would allow you to move one or more attachments to a different space all at once, plus many more features.

Thanks! I tried copying the page name from the page itself, but it didn't work. Perhaps the inverted commas within the page title caused a problem.

Not working very good. I was capable once to copy a first attachment, but then failed for the second. conflucene not recognizing to page name I like to move the 2nd attachment to. Even using the exact link from targeted page information!! -> expecting that the field for entering the page information should work similar like adding a link.

Why is this not possible?

Attachments cannot be moved to pages with special characters in their titles. Sometimes special characters can sneak into the page title without anyone noticing, so check carefully and look for invisible spaces.

I once copied text from the body of one page and pasted it into the title of another page. This introduced a special invisible character, which I removed by retyping the page title from scratch.

If your page title has special characters and you want to keep them, you can temporarily rename the page to something without special characters, move the attachment, then rename the page back to its original title.

Moving attachments is VERY VERY clunky. This desperately needs improvement. My users are complaining about it constantly (several have to move attachments a lot as documents change status, so need to be moved to a different page). They have been shown how to do it, but it's not an easy or intuitive process.
