How do I force a carriage return in a table?

Trying to format a table to force a carriage return within a cell.

In the editor screen, I see that I have two rows of text in a table cell, however, when I save my changes, it displays the table cell as a single row.

blah         |

blah         |

But when I save the change, it shows it on one row.

-----------|

blah blah |

Are formatting the data as paragraphs? Have you tried shift+enter?
