I'm creating a template to write a weekly report. Included in each report is a snapshot of some configuration data. I keep this configuration data in it's own page and multiple sw developers modify it as they make upgrades. So, once I publish the weekly report I want the included excerpt to remain static and not reflect changes in the source document.
I've also considered how to add these excerpts as hints to while in edit mode but I just can't seem to figure it out.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi Jeff,
Thanks for contacting us about this.
So indeed, the Excerpt Include Macro wouldn't be right for you, since the purpose of the macro is to provide a way to include information from one page without having to update each page when you need to correct the information in the excerpt.
You could just have that information the template itself, that way when users create a page from the template, it will already have it on the page. Then, if you need to modify that information in the template for future pages, you can just change it right on the template. it won't affect pages that have already been created using that information.
I hope that helps, but if not, please let me know, and we can work on finding an alternative for you.
Regards,
Shannon
I'm facing the same task. I want my users to be able to collect topics for a meeting on a section of a Confluence page. When the meeting notes are created from the template, I want the list of topics to be copied to the meeting notes. I can't do it via excerpts because the list is not supposed to change once the notes page has been created. I also can't do this in the template directly as I want my users to be able to add topics.
Is it possible to do this with Confluence? Or is there a better way to do this than I envisioned?
