How do I add a change comment in the new confluence editor?

Deleted user March 12, 2019

In the old editor, you had a text box to the left of the publish button where you could add a comment to tell watchers what you have changed each time you published (as well as see it in the page history).

I can't see this in the new editor - is it still accessible somewhere?

Cheers,

Graham

Hi Graham,

It appears to have been removed, but there's a feature request below to bring it back:

Please vote on the above request in order to help us keep track of the demand for this feature. Feel free to provide your feedback on the issue as well.

Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Regards,

Shannon

Update from CONFCLOUD-65695 Bring back the "what's changed" comment box:

Thanks for all the feedback on this ticket. Given the amount of requests we've started to explore what a potential quick win may look like to re-introduce this. That being said, we still can't guarantee a time frame for this - we will make sure to update this ticket as we know more on our end.

In the meantime, if you have the legacy template available - which most of you should have - you can keep using that to create new pages and still keep using this feature. If you don't have that template, you can reach out to support and we'll be happy to enable it for you.

Thanks,
Avinoam

@Dario B - your previous suggestion re using a legacy template would be considerably more helpful if you explain how to find/use this template to re-enable publishing comments...

Given the time that this request remains outstanding,  to reinstate functionality which was presumably removed in error - (otherwise, page history would not still show the 'comments field' as visible??)

Could you please add this detail?

Cheers

Hello Steve,

Welcome to Atlassian Community, and thank you for following-up on this thread.

When creating a page from a template in Confluence, you'll be able to find the Legacy Editor Template. Note that not all Cloud sites will have the template enabled. If you are not able to find this template on your Confluence site, a site administrator will need to contact Atlassian Support in order to have it added.

Cloud Free site admins can raise their request in the form of a new question here on Atlassian Community. Your request will be flagged and a Community Support Engineer will be able to assist with getting the template enabled on the site.

For reference, we've added information about the Legacy Editor Template to the page below:

You can, however, continue to create pages using the legacy editor by selecting the Legacy Editor Template.  Pages created using the legacy editor will remain as-is until converted by you.

I hope this helps clarify things, but let me know if you have any questions or trouble!

Take care,

Shannon

Hello @Mikhail1990,

In this particular case, we're referring to the missing functionality of being able to add a change comment to Confluence when editing in the new editor.

That would be resolved by implementing this feature request:

However, in your example, the screenshot doesn't appear to be the same version of Confluence Cloud, and you mentioned using a method. I believe the two may not be related.

I will be following-up with you on your linked thread in the meantime, so we can find out why you're running into trouble with this.

Take care,

Shannon
