There are changes that need to be made within a department's Organizational Chart where a few employees need to be moved under a new supervisor, delete terminated employees, as well as add an employee that is not listed. Our team is having difficulty identifying where these changes need to be made that funnels into Confluence. Do we update our Active Directory? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi @Kevin ,
You mention an organizational chart: do you mean a visualization, like with a draw.io diagram? Or are you using something else? Do you mean setting up Teams (in Confluence Cloud)? Or just managing users with licenses?
It would be helpful to clarify as well whether you are using Confluence Cloud or DC. Your question is posted with the Cloud Deployment Type (on the right hand side), but also has the tag for DC. If the Confluence instance has a url that includes atlassina.net you're on Cloud. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page and you see a version number for Confluence, you're on DC.
Hello @Laura Campbell _Seibert Group_ ,
Thank you for your comment! When I click edit on the particular Confluence page, the Organizational Chart macro is what is being used and displaying the chart. Do you know how I can edit that further?
I apologize for the confusion with what type of Confluence we have. Our company uses Confluence Data Center. When I click "Ask the community", I only have the option for Confluence Cloud, there is nothing else to click for Confluence besides that and is why I edited the tags. Is there something else I should be choosing?

@Kevin Are you by chance using the Org chart macro from the app Linchpin? Here is the documentation for that feature: https://info.seibert.group/display/DOC/Org+Charts
Is that what the macro looks like?
If that's the case and you are trying to get the LDAP sync to work correctly, don't hesitate to contact the support team of Linchpin.

Thank you for your comment! Pictured above is the macro that is being used for the department page. Is this the Org Chart macro form Linchpin?

Hello! Do you have an idea of what company this macro is affiliated with? Thank you for your time!

@Kevin Linchpin is an app from Seibert, and it includes an Org chart macro. Have you looked at the documentation I linked to see if you can update the macro on your Confluence space following the instructions from the documentation? Did you try to navigate to Confluence administration → Linchpin → User Profiles → Org Charts.
If you are not at all seeing the same things, it may be a different app.

@Kevin Could you be using the Communardo User Profiles app?

@Kevin I don't use Data Center, but, with a quick search, I don't see anything about there being an Organizational Chart macro. This indicates to me that a 3rd-party app is being used in your instance to add this macro.
If you can identify what app is being used, you should be able to access the documentation for it from within the Atlassian Marketplace. Hopefully this will help you to make the changes you need.

Thank you for your comment Barbara! Below is the macro chosen, but I am unaware of what third party this may be from. Does Confluence not offer this feature?

@Kevin As I said, I don't use Data Center, so I'm not sure how you identify what apps are installed in your instance. Your administrator and this page in the Data Center documentation may be a place to start: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/managing-system-and-marketplace-apps-25788666.html

Hi Kevin! With active directory when an employee is terminated, there should be some kind of call into Lian where basically makes it so that user can’t access their account but you have to go in and remove that user. Are you using an org chart for confluences plug-in or are you using something that’s created that you’re managing manually?

Hello @Theresa McFarlane , thank you for your comment!
Unfortunately, a former employee who is no longer here developed the page, but when I edit the area, the Organizational Chart macro is being used and displaying the department's chart. I don't have really any options to edit the Org Chart macro within Confluence. I hope this information is helpful! What do you believe I can do?
